The Trail of Tears wasn’t meant to safely remove thousands of peoples from one place and put them safely somewhere else. It was a march of murder and death. The U.S. soldiers killed children and those who could no longer continue to walk. The Trail of Tears is one of many forced removals.

I think frequently the only people who rightfully acknowledge these death marches as acts of genocide are other natives. Frustrating!
