Went to see The Odyssey. Speaking as someone only passingly familiar with poem? LOVED IT. Especially Samantha Morton's Circe.

Workhouse to orphanage? However tough life is for many even now, the appalling routine hardness of so many lives then is hard to credit.

In 1926 my granddad on my dad's side was still carrying his injuries from WWI (gassed, one leg maimed by shrapnel) and was a signwriter. My granddad on my mum's side was a carpenter.

Hadn't really considered that aspect but yes! 100% All that and simply incredible air-to-air photography with a big film camera crammed into an old B25.

As with any opera not in English (and some that are) I have absolutely zero idea what is going on but it sounds fabulous.
