Talking of care, recommend the Dovecot's Cosprop exhibition. Even if you're not a fashion or costume drama fan it's heartening to see the exquisite crafts dedicated to making fictional worlds as real as possible. Plus I was *this* close to Colin Firth's Mr Darcy costume and have a new film wishlist

So hard. Would it help to pick museums or galleries as a target? (Although those also have fiendishly good shops). The Modern is great for that, although I think you still get forced off the Water of Leith pathway at one point (or have to climb a fence) unless they've finally repaired it

Haven't been for ages so hoping it's been maintained but the Camera Obscura at the top of the World of Illusions near the castle entrance gives a birds eye view of the city. Was admittedly more impressive before drone films (and don't try flash photography like the ninny on my last visit!)

I really want an end to 'politicians/CEOs say' reporting and a return to 'things happened' reporting, only that requires actual journalism rather than keyword searches on text feeds so I guess I'll be turning the radio off at half hourly intervals for the foreseeable
