Modern pickup trucks are increasingly dangerous for those users. You'll pardon me if I don't see the CRV as "small" - that thing is bigger than what an Accord used to be. Kia has one or two models that are somewhat smaller, but they are by no means small. Saturn ... defunct as of 2008.

Car options? Very few SUVs? Yeah - there's a bunch, but they're all pretty damn big these days. Want to tow something? ... gotta buy a truck. We need some real competition in the marketplace - not the appearance of it.

Small body trucks? They're the size of an F-150 from the 90s. Sedans, small cars, etc? Virtually gone - a Honda Civic is the size of a 1990s Accord now.

You're missing my point: Automakers - especially the big 3 - have used lobbying and protectionism to eliminate real competition in the marketplace. When I talk about seeing most trucks being used for family hauling purposes, it's because the manufacturers have removed most of the family options.

1/ Over the past several months that I’ve watched the Alberta separatists, it probably won’t be a surprise that there is a significant amount of bigotry and far-right conspiracy rhetoric in the ecosystem. One could do a big thread on that story, but this time went about that.

The vast majority of pickup trucks in NA aren't bought for actual work purposes - they're being used as commuter and family haulers and that's about it. Nobody is arguing that trucks should go away for actual heavy work purposes, but some competition would be good for everybody.

There were horrible stories coming out of his "off-stage behaviour" back in the Culture Club days ... I'm surprised that he still has a career at all.
