8/ That isn’t really surprising. It is the second part that is concerning as they are laying the groundwork for rejecting any referendum that they don’t win by claiming the process was corrupted.

7/ Today my theory has had some confirmation. First, the claim that support for remaining in Canada is an astroturf campaign and that the separatists are the REAL majority, though likely silent.

6/ This isn’t to say I expect there to be an invasion by the American military. But I certainly wouldn’t put it past Trump to use the referendum loss as a pretext for more tariffs or sanctions that would be debilitating to Canada.

5/ I’ve sort of had a theory that the leadership, knowing this, will sow the seeds of doubt early. When they lose, well, they need to be “rescued” from the tyranny and f Canada. And that is when they beg the Trump administration to liberate Alberta.

4/ So, like we’ve seen in the United States, if they don’t win the only reason MUST be fraud. The election was stolen. And of course that is horribly damaging to democracy. When one side refuses to accept the result of an election they don’t win, then we are in dangerous territory.

3/ People like Rath and Parker and probably even Lich know that they don’t have the numbers. But they have muddied the waters so much that their own followers are absolutely convinced that a win is guaranteed. They are presented with lies as truth and are completely credulous.

2/ I’ve never really been concerned that the separatists are going to win. Even the most optimistic polling for them has it being voted down. My concern is and always has been whether they will accept that result.

1/ Over the past several months that I’ve watched the Alberta separatists, it probably won’t be a surprise that there is a significant amount of bigotry and far-right conspiracy rhetoric in the ecosystem. One could do a big thread on that story, but this time went about that.

Oh goodness! I was going for medium rare and this was most decidedly NOT medium rare. The time would be right if the grill was perhaps in the 450F range but it was well over 700F. I think 3 minutes on each side next time might do the trick?

I’m not saying the sans-culottes were right about everything. All I’m asking if anyone knows where one could find a whetstone large enough for all of the guillotines. I’m kidding of course… 🤥😗🤫

2/2 Sadly I grilled the tuna a bit too long (4 minutes each side) given the heat in my grill. Will try 3 minutes on each side next time.

I took a second mortgage on my house to buy this small top sirloin, grilled medium done, will roasted potatoes and garlic cloves (I like mine crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside). Paired with a Haskap wine from Cypress Hills Winery on Saskatchewan in a Phoenician glass goblet.
