The Edmonton Heritage Festival has long been major source of canned/packaged food donations to the Edmonton Food Bank. But I was speaking with Food Bank bosses last night, and this year they are asking people NOT to bring food items to Hawrelak Park. Cash donations still gratefully accepted. Why?..

The Edmonton Heritage Festival runs all this weekend, back in beautiful Hawrelak Park. The festival opens Saturday at noon, but I’m in Hawrelak tonight for the kick off reception in the Heritage Amphitheatre. I love bike lanes. I love them when I ride my bike. But I also love them when I drive my car; they reduce my stress as a driver, and make the automobile traffic flow more smoothly. (Proper divided lanes are best - sharrows worse than useless.)
