Always with you people. If the rightmost candidate in the race wins, no matter the margin, it's a "stunning mandate" and a sign of a "massive cultural shift". If a left candidate wins, no matter the margin, it's a sign that they need to "pivot to center" and "unite the fractured public".

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

Worse, it’s a form of coercion designed to cast doubt on people MOST dedicated to upending the power imbalance in favor of ordinary people.

If electability matters most to you then the best thing to do is organize. Speculating about what other people might think just isn’t useful although it is a major media pastime & when they do it, it can have effects, but those effects are not predictable or definitive 🤷🏾‍♀️
