If I’m running a small food shop and can buy subsidized staples from a city-owned grocery ~5 blocks away, I’ve just discovered a new supplier.

You’ve completely missed the point, the reason groceries are more expensive in NYC, and why subsidized city-owned groceries are a bandaid on gushing carotid.

Too many on the left believe arguing on economic terms is so poisonous as to debase the discourse. so they refuse b/c it’s grotesque. But in Florida, at least,‘diversionary mental health courts will save you money’ has had a far more positive impact than ‘we should treat people w/ dignity.’

My wetlands have a direct impact on downstream waters but are presently too small to be regulated under NY law. I’m managing them (and my property) to *increase* habitat & downstream filtering. My observation is on the threat of future restrictions. A threat *others* might avoid by draining.

In Miami, I’d like to see a mandated shift from asphalt to porous driveways. I’m purely a layperson, but personal observation (not data), suggests a significant improvement in absorption by the limestone I sit on.

I’ve got 50+ acres in NY… ‘managing’ runoff occupies a massive amount of my daydreaming. Recently put a culvert through an old logging road to connect two previousy connected wetlands.

I was born and raised in Miami… a fascinating intersection of plane crashes and wetlands. (Still remember how the Everglades swallowed a ValueJet with barely a trace).

me (who is delighted to have wetlands on my property for ecological/environmental/habitat reasons) on learning that they would be subject to stricter state laws: ‘So I either legally drain them now or lose that right in the future?’
