I didn't know who he was speaking of from the Politico article. The text made it ambiguous. And yes, I know it's metaphorical. But he was clearly talking about a political rival or opponent, and that kind of hyperbolically violent language in that context is totally inappropriate and immoral.

The term isn't racial or ethnic-specific. Blacks and those of Italian or Russian descent have far more of a claim of it being racial/ethnic-specific than someone of M-E descent, as it's a term that comes from discussions of organized crime. M-Ers have next to no association with that in the U.S.

They can use clips in a report. But there's been next to no coverage of the various primary campaigns on Detroit-area TV news. There were brief reports when Mallory McMorrow and Mike Cox dropped out of their races, but that's it. I think it really hurt McMorrow.

You can watch the whole debate on fox2detroit.com. But I doubt you'll hear anything you didn't know. I also doubt it'll have any impact one way or the other. The other local news programs are completely ignoring it, which has been par for the course in this year's coverage of primary campaigns.

He is presenting this as an either/or. If the money isn't spent on Israel, it will therefore be spent on schools, health care, and roads in Michigan. That's not how it works.
