2. The fox audience is conditioned to think the other networks already have a left wing agenda or bias. when a network moves to the right, the audience is already inclined to distrust them and is suspicious of what’s now being sold to them

1. Fox News says stuff like “fair and balanced” or “we report, you decide.” a network can’t consciously pivot to the right and win over an audience that thinks it’s getting the real, unbiased news by telling them your ideological bias

Something that’s interesting about this - any time a network tries to win this audience either by pivoting (cnn a few years ago, cbs now) or by origin (like sun news canada) it never really works because the Fox News audience is conditioned to be loyal

Also being able to use slurs without repercussions

so like 20 years ago when I was in college a guy I was covering for the school paper invited me to his libertarian party meeting and this was a sore spot for like all of them
