Spain had a legal right under EU law to regularize irregular migrants. This is the right of every member state. Not only that, but giving legal status to people without status is a good things and allows normal participation in society and the economy. Also Meloni’s plan failed abysmally.

Italy and other bloc nations should've suspended Schengen status with Spain when Sanchez announced mass amnesty, when most of the EU bloc wants the opposite. Sure, this was an easy political victory for Meloni, but the crisis is of Sanchez's own making

The anti-Roma bigotry and politics in Europe that remains common and accepted is truly shocking. When you realize things like forced sterilization and pogroms still occur even now it makes you realize how little has been done since 1945 to stop it. It must be fought.

Today is Roma Holocaust Memorial Day. Around 500,000 Roma & Sinti people were killed by the Nazis in the Porajmos. There was no state given to them after the war. Commemoration of their suffering is often diminished or forgotten. Racism towards Romani people across Europe remains acceptable.

The one thread arguing against moving to a multi-party system by using the UK and Israel as examples really doesn’t understand UK or Israeli politics or their election and party system. The UK is a two party system and Israel was a 2 party system until very recently.

Objectively the UK didn’t do serious lockdowns, nor did the US. Every other European country that did do serious lockdowns and school closures had significantly lower death rates and infection rates AND were in longer lockdowns and school closures. More people alive is a good thing.

I did not have Lewis Goodall being a covid conspiracy theorist on my bingo card this month. This guy knows 12,000 kids are without parents because of Covid, and kids were not magically immune to Covid. 250,000 people died in the UK.
