A less-visible consequence of old people clingingly bitterly to their management positions is that the younger people who were supposed to take over never got the chance, and thus never had the chance to learn *how* to be in charge of stuff.

I feel like we are going to see a lot of this in the next few years, because there are going to be a lot of people entering politics with absolutely no idea of how to speak to a world that doesn't already agree with them (and where they can't just block anyone who doesn't.)
