I think that isn't true, that *every* human decision is coldly rational and utility-maximizing. The issue is that the weights people put into their utility-maximizing calculus are idiosyncratic and ephemeral, which is why people do things that appear strange to the rest of us.

I think the problem is that every possible analysis depends on information that isn't in the scenario, though, unless you want to add "you are independently wealthy and do not need more money" to the description.
