Ach, you know what? Why not. Here’s Alan Bennett’s closing monologue from ‘On the Margin’, missing for nearly 60 years, and found on a Sony CV2000 tape in the Galton and Simpson archive You, dear viewer, are one of the few people ever to have seen this. Enjoy! discover.york.ac.uk/collections/...

Flags that go together well flying over Liverpool today. No room for Reform bigotry here 🌈

After many years of helping other people prepare for media interviews (and sometimes silently cringing as they forget everything and go completely off-piste) since What Goes on Tour was published, it's been fun being the interviewee for a change... sportive.com/2026/07/19/m...

A rare shot of Mr Clive Langer stepping into the spotlight at @deaf-school-live.bsky.social 50th anniversary gig in Liverpool tonight.

Revealing thread here on how the same person keeps turning up repeatedly in media “case studies” on poverty. Saw the same recently with Farage-supporting vox pops - the same couple on multiple channels.

This disingenuous commentary doesn’t help anyone. Frauds start unravelling pretty quickly. That you apparently cannot afford to put your oven or treat yourself is quickly undermined by the question “so why are you spending £50 per week on petrol?” Then, it turns out, she has an agent and /1

"this expertly plotted mystery deftly weaves together bike racing, family drama, love and lust" says Sportive - and who am I to argue? I enjoyed chatting about Le Tour, British winners, my favourite #audax rides and, of course, my book. #TDF2026 @audaxuk.bsky.social sportive.com/2026/07/19/m...

Keep meaning to add this to the thread, a Beatles medley from the fantastically-named Café Crème. Not as visually wild, but makes up for it with sheer infectious enthusiasm. How many Beatles song can you fit into a 5 min medley? Whatever you're thinking, double it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1mD...

@thenewworldmag.bsky.social Great New World cover this week, presumably produced even before Farage’s hissy fit.

I don’t think it’s libellous to say that my heart sinks whenever I get an order acknowledgment that says “your parcel will be delivered by Evri”. The last one was dumped on a doorstep at the other end of the street and stolen.

Programme aired on 20 December 2025, but the initial legal letter was sent first to ITV, then inexplicably rerouted via Channel 4 before finally being dumped in the Costa outside BBC Broadcasting House.
