Children are being locked up, traumatized, and abused with our taxpayer dollars. Parents with no criminal record are being separated from their families. It’s unconscionable.

I just conducted an oversight visit at the Dilley ICE detention center. After speaking directly with families and children being held inside, here are my first reactions. ⬇️ #ShutDownDilley

I won’t be allowed to bring my phone inside, but I’ll be documenting everything I can throughout the day and reporting back on what we see and hear.

This will be my 12th oversight visit to an ICE detention facility. Dilley is operated by CoreCivic, the same private prison company that runs the Eloy Detention Center in Arizona, where I’ve witnessed horrific conditions firsthand.

Last night, I arrived in Texas for a congressional oversight visit led by @demwomencaucus.bsky.social and @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social. Today, we’re heading to the Dilley ICE detention center—the nation’s only dedicated family immigration detention center.
