I applaud the sentiment, but how exactly do we ‘demand’ a conman comes clean about his con? Waterboarding? (I’m being sarcastic). Nige has never ‘come clean’ about anything - it’s going to be up to investigative journalism (if such a thing still exists) and the Met to uncover the truth.
Gem CrawleyI just signed "Demand Nigel Farage come clean about his £5 million gift" on Reform Watch. Add your name too. www.reformwatch.org/petitions?id...
The best new idea I've heard this week is a campaign to replace CEOs with AI. As long as they were programmed with some minimal amount of social conscience, I'm pretty sure they'd do a better job. And think of all the millions of dollars they'd save! I hope the business world takes a look at this.
Free speech (but only for them)
I Am IncorrigibleAs Nigel Farage expresses performative outrage over a cartoon on a t-shirt, I'm old enough to remember 2019 when Nigel Farage said he would "take the knife to civil servants" just five weeks after a civil servant was knifed in an attack outside the Home Office. #r4today
While we are in this Greek Mythology moment, may I remind you that Emma Thompson is adapting Pat Barker’s take on The Iliad, and she’s struggled to get it made bc the focus on what acts of war against women and survival thereafter actually look like (the core of Barker’s narrative) is too intense.
“Actors are often told to stay out of legal arguments … But we have spent our lives on enough U.K. sets, worked alongside enough U.K. crews […] to know that this is not someone else’s argument. It is ours.”
“In the panic about falling birthrates, the experiences of the people actually doing the births & parenting infants – most often mothers – are strangely absent. We hear about the ruinous effect of low birthrates, but little of the difficulties mothers face.” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Yes, I mean if that conflagration in the Cairngorms isn't a wake-up call, I don't know what would be. I mean, it's chuffing known for skiing, what's it doing on fire?
IPPR Scotland📺Speaking to @lewisgoodall.com on @lbc.co.uk Live, @davehawkey.bsky.social warned that Europe’s heatwaves and the wildfires in the Cairngorms are a stark reminder that climate extremes are here. 🌍🔥 The Scottish government must act now with a clear plan to prepare for what's coming. ⏳🌿
