Mosler created MMT with his early research papers. As far as I know he lives in USVI because it’s a very nice place to live. On Wall Street he made quite a bit of money using the insights he figured out that became the founding docs of the MMT movement. If MMT was wrong he would not be as wealthy.

A main tenet of MMT is that inflation needs to be the most important constraint on FedGov spending. They propose CBO should be scoring spending bills not on their deficit effect (which is dumb & pointless) but on their inflationary effects.

What are you on about? Kelton/Mosler & every prominent MMTer have called for higher taxes on the wealthy - just not to fund anything but rather to reduce their political power & influence.

We CAN actually “afford“ to give everyone a pony - the real problem is we likely dont have enough ponies for the fed gov to purchase. FedGov should aggressively tax the wealthy to reduce their political power - it doesn’t fund things. But State Govs can & should tax them to fund things.

We can’t “run out“ of US$ anymore than a stadium scoreboard Can run out of points. Taxes dont fund fdrl spending or debt service. We dont sell bonds to “fund” anything. Bonds are remnant of gold standard & serve as welfare for the investor class now. inflation is the only constraint On fed spending.
