The key thing to remember about MMT is that the biggest funder of the academics at UMKC is Warren Mosler, a billionaire who lives in tax exile in the US Virgin Islands. Call me cynical, but that may have something to do with Kelton et al not calling for tax rises even in the case of high inflation.
