An analysis from @gregsargent.bsky.social and @polphilpod.bsky.social that is a great companion to Jamelle’s column:
Jamelle asks the question that, in retrospect, is the obvious and pressing one: why do we tolerate this? And it’s clearly not because we need his cars or even his rockets, which makes any plausible answer all the more disturbing.
"people always have the idea that the question is "how do we get people thinking in a hopeful way again? how do we run on optimism? How do we reestablish common ground?"" And we're not going to do any of those things. We run on fear. And we run on hate."
i know it's not considered the done thing to compare people to hilter, but it's the exact same narrative honestly the main difference is hilter is the better writer newrepublic.com/article/2135...
fascism sees civilisation as contingent on (white) racial purity hilter (left) & musk (right)
Greg SargentAgreed. On Monday @polphilpod.bsky.social and I explicitly tied Musk USAID cuts to his "belief" that white civilization is embattled and white nations must be saved from invasion to preserve the "West." We argued Musk's "zero died" claim is code to global far right: newrepublic.com/article/2135...

reagan & romney said their elections were referendum's on free enterprise. trump never even mentions it what's up with that? new episode with @larryglickman.bsky.social www.politicalphilosophypodcast.com/free-enterpr...
"free enterprisers kept saying that we're right near the edge where we're about to collapse into totalitarianism. And it was always bullshit, but now it's kind of true"
"the common sense has been established for so long that it is the left that produces big brother government and the nanny state, and it is the right that opposes it. And it's something that I think really is very, very important to challenge in public debate"
you need to cook the lamb/mutton for wayblonger than she says (i think she means cook in a pressure cooker), but i love this recipie bsky.app/profile/polp...
Toby Bucklethere's a fair bit of variation. the core features are a meat curry with tamarind & a little coconut milk i use the recipe from here, which is apparently the version that's still served in karachi railway station www.amazon.co.uk/Summers-Unde...
