I'm almost old enough to remember the original punk, and I'd say you summed it up perfectly. Yes, you sell stuff, but we all have to survive in the pre-post-scarcity hellscape we live in. The difference is that you don't compromise. You sell what you want and you do it yourself. DIY is 100% punk.

The shorter seasons we have now are the curse of modern TV. DS9 had plenty of genre episodes, but could also be it's own thing in between. I love SNW, but the genre episodes dominate the 10 episode run, with less space to develop the characters and running plot lines that are uniquely SNW.
