The IMAX that used to be at Navy Pier apparently had Duel Laser in addition to the film projectors, but that whole theater is long gone now.

I don't think I've been to that IMAX auditorium before so I wouldn't know. I know a lot of the PLF's will fill up the whole screen (Dolby was like this), I do know that the laser IMAX at the AMC Roosevelt is only Single Laser, though

70mm does cut off the top and bottom. Insofar as I'm aware though, all of the laser IMAX's in Chicago are Single Laser which cannot project the full IMAX ratio (without pillarboxing). Single Laser IMAX is still great though, and I wouldn't say non-IMAX 70mm is necessarily better

Unless I'm misreading you, Laser IMAX and 70mm are gonna be relatively similar (I don't think we have any Dual Laser setups around here)

People are sometimes snarky about Evanston charging non-residents a fee to use their beaches. But Evanston also has restrooms every half mile, outside the pay-to-play zone. Clean, and open to everyone. Chicago Park District could follow their lead. @slucy.bsky.social
