Dublin City Councillor for the South West Inner City. Green Party spokesperson on Finance. 🌳🏡🚲🚌🌍

A lovely canvass this evening! Thanks so much to everyone who opened their doors to us this evening - we had a little over 60 conversations across Inchicore - followed by some lovely pints.

Transparency in politics is important. That's why I keep a specific page which goes into detail on things like my income, expenses, assets, donations, memberships and lobbying that I get. Take a look at: pidgeon.ie/transparency

New hotels in Dublin will now face a much higher development charge than housing. That's thanks to a Green proposal we brought through Dublin City Council. The Irish Hotels Federation aren't happy, but I think we need to really focus in on the development our city prioritises.

How do we tackle congestion in Dublin? I basically said "better public transport" fifty times over when discussing this question on @newstalkfm.bsky.social's Hard Shoulder earlier today. www.newstalk.com/podcasts/hig...

BIG news in the fight for Dublin 8 pitches! We've just seen the initial planning documents for a fullsize pitch at Donore Avenue. Our local committee will get a presentation on Wed 17th with full planning lodged the next week. Plenty of road left to travel, but this is great, great news!

The communion money principle: a slightly tortured metaphor I gave to the Mirror the other day. Ireland is being set up for a fall if we keep relying on windfall corporation tax for daily spending. It doesn't have to be like this! Save and invest in infrastructure instead!

Plastic bollards are being removed from Islandbridge - they're being replaced with much more permanent and better-looking kerbs. There will also be new surfaces, cycle-friendly drains, and improvements to make it safer for schoolkids locally. Work started today and should be done by end of June.

Ireland's energy price hikes are a terrible symptom. If we want to stop them, we have to cure the disease.

Janet for the Planet! (Special thanks to @cllrhonorekamegni.bsky.social for making the trip from Cork!)

This is an abhorrent decision. Rooted in a total ignorance of the conditions faced in these old inner-city flat complexes. I'm just out of a meeting with Oliver Bond residents and there's a real sense of hopelessness. www.irishtimes.com/ireland/dubl...

I spoke to RTÉ's @mcculld.bsky.social this morning about why an inheritance tax cut for the already-wealthy is a bad idea. Is this the only screengrab of my face I could get? Sadly yes. You can listen back on Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/6bOq... Or on RTÉ: www.rte.ie/radio/radio1...

Dublin City Council took up a crucial question this week: how many homes should we build, and where? Building our way out of the housing crisis has to be at the core of our thinking, otherwise the crisis will just roll on.

Insurance in Ireland is a rip off. But it doesn't have to be that way. The Greens have just launched our 35-page plan to grind down insurance costs - you can read it here: greenparty.ie/news/green-p...

Dublin builds too many hotels — and nowhere near enough homes. The Greens want to change the city tax system to fix that. Double the tax on new hotels, use the money to cut tax on new homes. 🏘️🏘️🏘️ @feljin.ie

In the depths of a housing crisis, Dublin needs homes, not AirBnBs. Managed to get an application for a full-time AirBnB in the Liberties rejected so that it'll be a home instead. If you know of an illegal AirBnB in your area, drop me a message and we'll get on it.

Found: a foldable e-bike in the linear park in Rialto. Battery was empty so suspect it was stolen and then dumped. Seems in good working order. If you know the owner, drop me a message. Will be going to Kilmainham Garda station if no one claims.

WOW! Just got the presentation for the new plans for College Green and Dame Street. Looks absolutely amazing. The Greens have been pushing for this for nearly two decades: we'll keep on going until we get it over the line.

What a wildly stupid idea. Mandatory helmets and high viz is a proven remedy to reduce the number of people cycling. It effectively kills off things like Dublin Bikes. That's why no other EU country does anything like this. Pure madness.
