I worked on the 14th floor of this building, and spent many happy minutes slowly riding the paternoster lift. Faster than the stairs, less waiting than with the lift.

This, really, is the crux of the issue, and it seems a peculiarly British problem.

I had Reform in mind here, but (IMO) a lot also depends on which Green Party shows up to govern: old-style "think global, act local" environmental activism, or something closer to Corbyn's Labour.

Lots of English voters are about to find out what happens to local services when under the control of politicians interested only in gestures and not in the difficult, boring and unfashionable business of local government.

Massively important result.
