What a weird word of use - ‘failed’. I failed to crash my car last week. I failed to miss my train yesterday. Etc. etc.

It can’t set much clearer than this - these 2 YouTube videos promoted right next to each other. Charging rate of 1000kW is bonkers - adding 400 miles of range in 6 minutes.

It’s weird how the continued closure of the strait isn’t news in the uk any more even though the impact is predicted to be about to spread massively. Pretty damning how news is focused on the novel rather than the important.

On 28 February the Strait of Hormuz closed. It is still not fully open. We have a new commentary out this week and model supply and price impacts under three closure scenarios. The results are concerning. Write-up on Bright Spots soon: substack.com/@janrosenow

Lovely chart showing how the electricity generation by gas (yellow) has been replaced over the last 6 years with battery discharge (blue).

Another for instance! Down in Queensland, Australia, fossil gas used to provide all the peak power. Then batteries start nibbling at it. Then chomping on it. And now they've basically eaten it all up. No more gas. Look at this graphic! Glorious. reneweconomy.com.au/big-batterie...

Stunning data viz from @neilkaye.bsky.social Took me a while to decode. Black lines are 30 year averages. Peaks up and down are gb variations over last 12 months from those averages. Clearly visible is the recent sunny dry April and the wet Oct 25 — Feb 26. Oh and the generally warming planet.

Neil Kaye

Here in the UK, April was warm, very sunny and dry (except in West Scotland). Here is a climate/weather #dataviz summary for the past 12 months #globalwarming #climatechange

Forgive me if this is getting repetitive, but this is the first time creating sankey diagrams. Here’s latest take showing energy flows in my 100yo house in Suffolk UK with heat pump, 14kW east west PV array, 13kWh battery & EV. Net cost of electricity for month was £44. Mean temp for month was 8°C.
