Studies prove the vaccines help prevent spread of the disease (as well as reducing hospitalisation, severe illness, and death). A child may be at lower risk of severe illness/death, but vaccinating them helps reduce the infection rate, protecting their family, school staff and health care workers

Experts are being questioned: cf. the COVID 19 Inquiry. Lewis' comments come from the "I feel that..." angle, & seem not to take wider implications into account. It's a dangerous approach that creates a narrative whereby we prejudge a response to future pandemics and keep schools open at all cost

Don't forget, schools did remain open to children of key workers & vulnerable pupils through all lockdown periods. Staff operated on a rota to teach them face to face, whilst still delivering online lessons to others. It was an unprecedented global crisis that we were all feeling our way through.
