lest you think AC Avignonnais is but a footnote in French football's history, the great Claude Le Roy -- everyone's favorite national team coach (and currently Congo Brazzaville's manager) played 123 matches for Olympique Avignonnais (of which ACA is the successor club)!

there is also the Stade Léon-Dulcy (capacity 500), where the Avenir Club Avignonnais play (fans will remember their one glorious season in France's first division in 1975-76)

if I'm reading UEFA's statement correctly, Poland's federatino is committed to withdrawing its team from a tournament that it is hosting

the next FIFA tournaments up no the international calendar are the U20 Women's World Cup in Poland (opening match September 5, 2026) and the U17 Men's World Cup in Qatar (opening match November 19, 2026) would be very interesting indeed were they to go forward without any UEFA or CONCACAF teams ...

in CONMEBOL supports Infantino's project, CONCACAF could do the funniest thing and start Messi's international retirement right away NO MORE MESSI IN AN ARGENTINA SHIRT! 3/3

windows, which would basically tank the African Nations Cup and the Copa América do CAF and CONMEBOL really want a CAN without Hakimi and Mbaye, or a Copa América without Vinicius Jr and Emiliano Martínez? 2/2

UEFA doesn't just have a lot of votes, as the economic and marketing core of the game, it has outsize clout if FIFA goes ahead (which would require CAF to support Infantino's project), UEFA could cease respecting FIFA's calendar, and European clubs could no longer release players in the int'l 1/

For those keeping score, here's how FIFA's 211 members break down by confederation: • UEFA: 55 ❌ • CAF: 54 🤔 • AFC: 46 😠 • CONCACAF: 35 ❌ • OFC: 11 🤔 • CONMEBOL: 10 🤷‍♂️
