Vancouver, ex-Kootenay kid, married with children. Need to get outside more. he/him

Growing up in the Kootenays, Spokane was a magical place to visit and holds a special spot in my heart. I hope the situation improves rapidly and everyone there stays safe.

I am now realizing I have watched very few films by this Nolan fellow.

This is very sad. Michael was a real treasure on here. I didn’t know him in real life but I know he must have been a wonderful friend, partner, and parent.

Michael Coyle

This is Mike's partner Sylvia Fuller - I am so sorry to say that Mike was found unresponsive while mountain biking yesterday and died despite the best efforts of other riders and Squamish EMS. Thank you to Squamish Search and Rescue for carrying him out and taking care of our dog. We are shattered

As someone who lives in Mackenzie Heights, I am incensed that this person thinks the Villages plan shouldn’t happen west of Ontario. Everyone knows the East Side starts at Macdonald.

Bryn Davidson - Lanefab

Wow... a speaker at the Villages hearing says the plan is fine for the East side... but the West side is far too classy and exclusive, and West side children need to be protected from things that are just fine on the East side.

So I've been working at my old office for a couple of days and it's an older, inaccessible building. I have to go down two flights of stairs and then up another to get coffee. My step count has gone through the roof. I can see why my weight has crept up working from home full time.

I don't like how time exponentially accelerates on weekend afternoons. "What do you mean it's 4 o'clock? I just had lunch!"

100% agree. If you've read this book, that first chapter has likely come to mind a few times this summer. Terrifying.

Nothing has scared me on an existential level quite like the opening chapter of The Ministry For the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. Published in 2020 it describes one of the most harrowing mass death events from extreme heat I've ever encountered. It is fiction, by a slim margin.

Getting some proper rumbles in Vancouver right now! #bcstorm

Took my kid to the new Oakridge this morning because there was a deal on a bike helmet at the sports store and wow is it ever tacky. Lots of gold and marble and blonde wood finishes. Minimalist but still tacky. It’s a style that I’m dubbing “Trump Moderne.”

Not sure if I should be cheering for England because of my Cockney great grandmother or Norway because of my French Canadian ancestors that originated from Normandy.
