This exactly. Speaking of "why the rural Overton window is the way it is." And it's not just about ability to win elections & promise nice things (although that is obvs part of it).

I feel like at least part of the motivation behind this pretension is not acknowledging the elephant in the room: That Democrats genuinely are not all that much better than Republicans for many poor rural folk. They are better ... but rarely enough for folks to risk organizing for them.
