In any case it's fucking wild for a CEO to be like "a sizeable portion of our userbase moved here because the previous platform became a putrid cesspool and they prefer an environment that's not saturated in shit, we think they're wrong and want to start piping in more sewage"

The main problem is that an all-chud platform is no fun for the chud userbase because they require the presence of libs to trigger, and insist on trying to export their bullshit to places it's not welcome.

And by "excluding" I mean "not algorithmically amplifying their reach at the direct instruction of the platform owner, an actual fascist".

Yeah! I've mostly used it for cleaning/descaling but it's food grade.

Yeah, I've been checking out YouTube videos about plants that can manage with warm wet winters and hot dry summers since that looks to be the New Normal. :\

The main issue is that the hypericum spreads by sending out underground runners, and an inch or three down the whole flowerbed is a net of roots that'll send up new shoots before long. It's impossible to get them all.

Today's garden project was digging up some irises from the front flowerbed for transfer to containers. Once I'd done that I finally decided to deal with the hypericum that's taken over that whole section, so that was an afternoon's work to pull up and oof ow I'm feeling it.

England especially is kind of notorious for its rainy summers. We're very much not used to it.

Watering the ground doesn't do much good because the soil is bone dry dust down to at least six inches so any moisture just vanishes into it. At least with containers I can sit them in a saucer or dunk them in a bucket to get a proper soaking.

My previous policy has been to only water plants in containers, so if you've got roots in the ground you can find your own water. I've now had to revise that because barring a short shower last night it's been about six weeks without rain and the plants are struggling. :(

The sooner the better.

I really do believe a lot of [waves broadly at All The Bullshit] is an extinction burst on the part of entrenched power. They can see which way the tide is turning, and are desperately trying to lock us all into the unsustainable systems that granted and maintain their power. It won't work.

Climate change is well underway, but it's accelerating installation of renewable energy infrastructure. The Iran not-war is fucking up the global economy, but it's incentivising a move away from oil. Fascists are being brazenly terrible, but it's radicalising populations against them.

I treat it as a fee that grants permission to daydream about winning big. An infinitesimal but non-zero chance is still better than zero chance.

I'm sceptical about how effective it's likely to be, mostly it seems like a tech company trying to monetise a policy failure. As someone outside the USA, it seems very fucked up to treat school shootings as something that just happens rather than something that can be actively addressed.
