I've been spending a bunch of time lately in the garden, and a recent project has been to carefully dig things up and transfer them to containers, because then I can actually make sure they're getting water.

I've adopted an informal policy of not yelling about news because there's so much of it already happening (both news and also yelling) but I do think it's important to note that while there are undeniably a lot of terrible things going on, it's also making denial and complacency untenable.

America will do literally anything but enact sensible gun control laws.

It's a curious coincidence that the "wooOOooOOoo our AI broke out of containment and hacked another company's servers" story broke shortly after the "being switched to per-token billing has corporations questioning how much actual value AI use brings to their business" thing.

Got an engineer booked for the annual gas boiler service sometime between 8am and 1pm today, so I had to set an alarm because if I slept in they'd show up at 8am on the dot. Now they'll probably arrive around noon.
