Hell I think you even see this with new versions of TTRPG playtest documents nowadays also. We all gotta be willing to be cool with some stuff not working the same as before.
One of the (many) issues with the current state of the TTRPG community at large is that if you make a new edition of a game it cannot be meaningfully different from the previous one otherwise people will hold it against you.
