The way people who know I’m a writer assume I don’t immediately research the hell out of things that intrigue me is so bizarre.

I love dragonflies but I've always been a little afraid of them (I dunno, they’re so intense, heehee). Last night, one trusted me enough to perch on my finger. First dragonfly I've ever handled. A Wandering Glider (Pantala flavescens), which are famous for traveling great distances. 🐲🪰💙

Truth told by someone already categorized as an outsider is read as a threat.

I just called out a Nigeria doctor who was peddling a children's book he clearly generated with AI and he thought by responding to me in igbo was going to shield him. Ridiculous. Note: Writing children's book is TOUGH. And the artist who draws it is CENTRAL. Kids deserve all that work they take.

Since moving to Phoenix, I’ve had so many moments where I’ve looked at the sky and thought, “Oh man, maybe I should turn around and go home.” Here’s the latest one. This was yesterday on my way to the gym. 🤣

They trimmed the tops of the palm tree the nighthawks always circle around 9PM most of the year and I was afraid the nighthawks wouldn’t return. After two weeks, just saw one circling. Phew, 😃. All is well.

I didn’t like Backrooms and said so on my FB page (FB allows for longer posts with paying for it). Some guy gets on there saying it’s for younger viewers, implying that’s why I didn’t like it. Can we PLEASE stop making *everything* about age? PLEASE. It’s reductive and dismissive.

Sometimes you just have to shut off comments and let your words stand.

I keep choosing films where some white guy rants that the world is rigged against him. Sometimes it’s commentary, sometimes it’s what the film is pushing. But it’s so clear how this specific convo is front and center (gosh, what a surprise) when OTHER convos should be.

The dragon is roaring today. Not going outside until near sunset (I plan to still do my 3 mile walk, though. I just make sure I bring water and know I’ll sweat freely). 🤠🐉

It’s so odd how few seem to realize that talk about generations (Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z, etc) is really just a conversation about the habits of white American men of various generations. Yet people speak as if they’re talking about everyone. It’s icky to observe.

I refilled the hummingbird feeder today. That hummingbird who spends the day on his branch near my window staring at me (whom I've named Rockwell) has found a branch even CLOSER where he has stared at me all day. 😁 And he's been tweeting at me, too. If he's saying thank you, I GET IT ALREADY, lol.

Sphynx cats are something else. It's 113F today. I don't use the AC in my home, I stay downstairs and use a fan and it's quite nice. Upstairs gets pretty warm. I haven't seen Neptune all day. Usually, he's with me in some way, on my desk or lap. Today? He's upstairs because he LOVES roasting. 😆

“We’d like to interview you. Can you send us a list of books that inspired you to be a writer?” Nope factors: 1. Throwing a bunch of busy work at me for your interview. 🫩 2. “Other writers” did not inspire me to write and now I have to explain that to you in a way that doesn’t offend. 😒 No.

Tired of all these videos that try to pathologize EVERYTHING. Can't we each have individual quirks without it being an identity, disorder, disease or illness?! F*ck.
