100% I'm in Maine. Ticks were around 25 years ago, but we'd rarely see one, much less worry about tick-borne disease. Populations stayed low because winter temps regularly hit -20. The river no longer freezes over, tick populations have exploded, & 2% of us have had anaplasmosis at least once.

Oh great. An untreatable, possibly fatal virus passed by ticks is spreading in the USA. Good thing we have the CDC looking out for us, am I right?

Fart audibly in the vicinity of your partner early in a relationship. If they react badly, you can end it quickly and easily.

Since moving in with my SO a year ago, I go to the bathroom to fart. The other day, they did the same thing and I learned you can hear them very well from the bedroom. Bless them for not mentioning it.

If you’re disabled and relying on someone who’s abusive for literal survival, please know you’re not alone. The lack of social supports and safety nets mean many of us get trapped in exceedingly dangerous situations. Forced to choose between help with food and meds or abuse.

Sadly it doesn't surprise me. When I tried to bring an air purifier into my mother's long term care home, I was first told they would have to wipe it down, then told it was prohibited by Public Health. I fought back & got it in but frequently found it turned off/unplugged despite signs saying not to

I keep hearing it said that it is important to understand that many people still have not gotten over Covid-era lockdowns, but whenever I say that it is important to understand that Covid is still here many people tell me to just get over it already.

Ebola may have been spreading for months in the DRC before anyone recognized it. A new reconstruction suggests the outbreak was already widespread in the gold-mining town of Mongbwalu by January. It wasn’t officially declared until 15 May. Why did no-one raise the alarm? My story for @science.org 🧪
