this is always how i interpreted it, but it’s great to a legal justification for it

Per the police shooting in Madison, WI today, this bears repeating: ICE, CBP, local cops; their violence is all connected. ICE represents an escalation of that violence to be sure. But we wouldn't be here here without years and years of collectively tolerating "regular" cops killing people.
