Solar and wind now dominate global electricity generation. Worldwide, solar and wind power will each surpass nuclear in 2026. This surge has halted fossil fuel power generation rise, with renewables overtaking coal, supported by battery storage providing system flexibility at scale.

💯 So much this 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 Can I recommend/plug “Between Two Rivers” by @moudhy.bsky.social to really highlight this point — we humans, connecting to humans in our deep past, who in turn were also connecting to humans in their deep past — through storytelling. The machines can *never* do this.

Dr. Sarah Parcak

I think one of the reasons generative AI is so deeply grating is that storytelling was an adaptive trait that made (and makes) us human. I'm writing my communication book chapter now and this struck me- not in a present sense but in a deep time sense.

Just to make it fit my preferred format “All that he has, like smoke into the sky, will evaporate.”

What was taxation like in the ancient world? #TaxDay In the Assyrian Empire, the imperial core extracted resources in the forms of taxation and tribute from the settlements it took over, meaning wealth disparity increased as the empire expanded. 🆓 doi.org/10.15184/aqy... 🏺 #Archaeology

We therefore learn from this learned commentary made by a Babylonian scribe over 2000 years ago, that in the Akkadian language, the word shitti means "shit"

Next book! “Between Two Rivers: Ancient Mesopotamia and the Birth of History” by Moudhy Al-Rashid. As some of you may have noticed from some of the past few books I’ve read, I’ve become quite obsessed with ancient history, particularly…(1/)

If you return unwanted Reform local election leaflets to their party headquarters using their free post address, then it will cost the party £2.50 per envelope. Please don’t share this information; it could cost Nigel Farage a fortune.

Supervisors an students. An ancient tale. This one is about ~4,000 years old. It always feels kinda special to think that I share a deeper Mesopotamian ancestry with the authors of these works, in particular astronomy topics or as I am now, a student!
