It seems like an issue the Democrats could capitalize on, but you have to go a good deal deeper than just saying, "corporations evil."

Right. But we are going to lose any advantage by saying the problems defy party lines. One party clearly wants stronger environmental enforcement and one party clearly does not. Why can't we hammer that point rather than trying to blur the partisan distinction?

This sounds like a really stupid analysis of the situation.

There are corporations that endanger our health, but they are not the ones who manufacture vaccines or produce seed oils. And we are not going to protect ourselves from pollution, toxic chemicals, or climate change by humoring cranks and conspiracy theorists.

This issue doesn't really defy party lines; it highlights how different the two parties are when it comes to protecting our air, land, water, and health.

AOC might be helpful here if she actually made the point that in order to decrease our exposure to toxic chemicals, we need strong environmental regulations, an EPA with real teeth, and the funding and manpower to investigate, all of which are anathema to the GOP.

Under that rationale, I would be spending all my time reading bad books.

I keep telling people that politicians ignore the backlash against data centers at their peril.

I guess I would prefer to see a credible track record of acting on principle, showing strong ethics, and standing up against powerful countervailing forces. Baring your teeth and claws doesn't really impress me.

What created the bandwagon effect? Was it the campaign rollout that slickly presented Platner as the new working class hero? Were the endorsers that simple minded?

I don't think Zuck was particularly trying to hide his ownership after the fact (especially since he has been combining all of the properties into one big compound). But you can see how some people could go to great lengths in trying to disguise their ownership.
