Before I'd so much as gotten in the door at my first anime convention, a stranger tackle-hugged me while shouting the character I was cosplaying's name. The con no longer allows such consentless "glomping" (good!), but I will always cherish that first, welcoming hug to my weirdo self.

My 13 month-old loves playing with my flip-phone, which mostly involves opening and closing it and giving it the occasional lick. But yesterday he managed to call his dad at work, which, wow, good job picking whom to mouth-dial, kid.

You tease, but I once wore my hair up in a bun, and my teacher didn't recognize me. And then, when -I- was teaching, I wore a wig for a Halloween costume, and none of my students recognized me.

Pretty sure I can never cut or dye my hair because it's at least 60% of my personality and 90% of my recognizability.

I have never seen O Brother, Where Art Thou, but there was a solid year of my childhood when that was the only CD my mother played the car, so I have all sorts of made-up ideas of what it's like, based purely on my child interpretation of the soundtrack XD

100% true fact: I, too, can recite part of The Odyssey in the original Ancient Greek, and it's been my favorite party trick since I was a teen. (I go to very cool parties.)
