We are appealing. She can't work. She has no child care. No funds until she does find work. Catch 22

It goes both ways. Their strength, resilience, selflessness, and ability to forgive hit me in the gut each time. This human being is a hero.

She hasn't spoken to Bail yet, but she wants my help putting together a release plan to present to the judge. My role is to help people, so of course I'm going to assist her. I was just interested in hearing other people's reasoning about why they would—or wouldn't—help in that situation.

2/ 2/ Knowing her 'Day in Court' won't be for another 24 months. Thinking of the victim's family, her family, her children. The presumption of innocence. Would you help? Put your name on the record and support this person? Or would you walk away?

3/ A lot of grief, horrific suffering, confusion, and in the end, a lot of relief. Thank you all for supporting what I, as part of the @coalition4jhr, do.

2/ Of these 79, 42 were homeless. 16 had no access to food. 3 had no access to prescription medication. 9 needed to get into treatment. 8 were sexually exploited. 1 passed and needed her pet looked after, and some funds to help with the funeral.

2/ He is still enveloped in trauma, addiction, and instability. And, I'm still trying to change his trajectory. This is just how it works.

1/ I should also mention. In 2005, I helped a 14-year-old boy. I connected him with @iHumanYouth. He had a mentor with the John Howard Society. I provided emergency transportation and helped him secure housing. Today, I am meeting him at the Edmonton Remand Centre.

2/ Well....today she met up with me for an update. She's a Hospital RN and the mother of two girls. Home owner, and volunteers helping vulnerable girls.

4/ I often bring them to my office and help them apply for Income Support, AISH, identification, healthcare, housing programs, and other community resources to ensure they have the best possible chance of a successful transition back into the community.

3/ I make every effort to stabilize their situation by helping them secure temporary or permanent accommodation, providing food when necessary, assisting with phone access, and connecting them to essential services(Like driving them, I don't click and point).

2/ Many are effectively discharged into homelessness.

2/ When their cheque arrives, much of it goes to paying interest, never mind having enough to reclaim those items. Then they're right back where they started. The following month will be even tighter. Some turn to panhandling. Some are sexually exploited. And some simply give up.

2/ She is now sexually exploited, working for a pimp, and online, and taxi'd to john's residences, nine, ten times over 24 hrs. At least her children aren't hungry now. Curious. Do you count that as a win? I'm going to help her reapply. As I don't.

UPDATE: FUNDS RESTORED. I signed a release of information with the grandfather and then wrote to some senior managers and issue persons. Seemed to have worked.
