It’s the “I pay what I pay AI” for me. Like, there are plenty of artists who could pull off what he wanted in “a couple hours.” These artists would also respect themselves and their craft well enough to charge expedite fees.

And let’s not start on how the RP community circles the wagons around anyone who makes a cool thing, bc the loss of the cool thing is apparently scarier than the fact that the person uses said cool thing to target & ab*se others.

That one still irritates me to think about, bc if the player had come to me about that OOC first, we could have broken up the characters in a way that didn’t break Marce’s heart & leave him with lasting scars that still surface today. But communicating is hard for RPers.

Dedicated time and effort to repair, that shouldn’t have been needed in the first place, & which often involved the input of healthier players/characters. The dumbest was one who broke up with Marce ICly & *then* told me they needed more time for work & RL relationships.

As for lore, the aforementioned creeps left their marks on my characters, /especially/ Marce, in the form of IC punishments for OOC boundaries that they chose to break. It has taken months to years of work to repair.

Part of my reticence is an occupational hazard. Living on airships due to a destroyed world was a massively popular conceit for novelists both around the late 70s/early 80s (I think) and then again in the 2010s. It probably feels like a unique idea to most, but to me SE is very late to the game.

I expect to still use FFXIV as a vector for RP, and the character and animation updates sound vaguely interesting (if very superficial if they don’t stop genderlocking gear and emotes). And at some point I’ll do the expac for gear’s sake. But it’s such a massive shrug for me.

Marshall’s would literally just be (dragon)fire. Reynardo… I think would manifest as a legion of Reynardos swiping their claws at you. Jourdan’s would be either a carbuncle-like pet or dual fucking greatswords that he can still somehow still swing like they’re daggers. Sayeva, quill, obvs.

I only started spelling it this way a few years ago, so folks who have known me for a while especially might not have noticed. I changed the spelling back around 2022 for personal reasons. In brief, distancing myself from anger. (2/3)

A dear friend lost a close loved one around 7.1 iirc, & she separately had a similar reaction, re memories and grief, and forcing a soul to live forever.

Speaking only for myself, but I’ve lost most of my family, and Living Memory didn’t hit like Ultima Thule; actually, it and the resonators made me actively angry, & this is part of why I bounced off DT. Folks will grieve different ways, but for me it was basically sacrilegious.

You can share links to your stories like on Google Docs. But I don’t wanna share a link each for hundreds of stories/chapters lol. I wish Ellipsus had this, a nice landing page & some light monetization options (tipping) and it would be perfect.

Moreso the former. I’m loving Ellipsus, but I have two novels and hundreds if short stories to post, so I’m wanting somewhere with a homepage folks can browse, not having to give out a link to every story/chapter each time. Also helps if I can link my Ko-fi for folks to possibly drop tips.
