One of the most striking things about this area is how the Battle of Orgreave has been totally erased from the park and housing estates which now occupy the site. Not a single sign or information panel. There should be a walking trail along the lines of the Bosworth Battlefield Trail.
Davenant 📸The bridge which used to lead to the Orgreave coking plant, where the police attacked striking miners in 1984. Hundreds of police officers then perjured themselves to support a blatantly political prosecution. The trial collapsed but nobody was ever held to account, Some scars never heal.
Brilliantly captured moment that will always be shameful. A couple of days ago I was driving through a village I won’t name in a very rural area & delighted to see a hand-made, arrest-sized “I support Palestine Action” poster in the front window. Hopefully sensible policing, possibly just unaware.
