One worked on factory production lines (or ran a bookshop, which failed in the Depression). The other was a shop assistant. So... I'm sort of doing that?!

It's been a bit to get our heads around. The benefit is that the side effects of immunotherapy are less dramatic than chemo or radiation. It's too dangerous to do radiation, as the tumours are too near the oesophagus and windpipe.

Because of SibL's priority, they had 3.5 months between cancer diagnosis & treatment. In 2 weeks between scans the team went from saying cure to saying treat. The medical teams have been wonderful. Admin a bit dodge. But... if only.

With highly-pathogenic avian influenza now in NZ, we're taking steps to protect #kakapo and #takahe by vaccinating against the disease, following a successful trial. We're aiming for ~90 kākāpō and 100 takahē in an initial phase to protect the most valuable birds/sites. #conservation #birds

This notion that the purpose of writing essays is to have an essay-shaped object to hold at the end of it is just... wild, and incredibly widely held apparently? Have these people never... written an essay?

With secure employment, and enought leave/flexibility if you are balancing work and caring. My house recently cared for our Mum in her last months. Possible because 2 of 3 of us were at home, I worked but took time off. AND another sibling spent days here, giving us breaks. It takes a village.

So wonderful! Mine is actually The Lion in the Meadow. My first book and library memory.
