They are calling them a luddite because all of the things you just stated? That is a luddite stance. Luddites weren't against technology. They were against it being exploitative. You seem to need a refresher on their movement.
Calling someone a luddite because they are against depleting the water system, polluting the air and killing jobs is lame. We welcome technology, just not at the expense of the population.
Here's the thing, the Luddites were the good guys. They've been demonized because they impeded capitalism but like, how well is that economic system working out for everyone?
It’s not Luddite to want to stop something that may kill us, creates no jobs and is an environmental threat. It’s common sense.
That "Luddite" became stripped of its history and came to mean just "anti-technology" was a huge PR win for the ruling class.
