I just wanna go out into the desert and look at cool rocks Melbourne based electronic musician and nerd. You might know me from such things as Metroid Resynthesized https://youtube.com/@luministmusic?si=vacukXywvKX4YEIB

One of the things I love most about any Monster Hunter game: Getting smacked around the whole time during a fight with a new monster, then trying it again sometime later and suddenly finding it easy to dodge its attack patterns. It feels so rewarding 👌🏻

imo playing the Monster Hunter series is one of the most fun ways to experience the passage of videogame graphics hardware across the last 20+ years.

I think the fact he had to go and check whether the notes said that is pretty telling of the level of knowledge you realistically get out of "researching" a subject using ai. Why bother listening to someone who literally doesn't know what they are talking about?

I mean he is extremely annoying for how aggressively he tries to remain centrist/moderate on even the most black and white possible things, so I don't really know why I expected him to not use it and to value the art of learning as a human experience

JRPG battle results screen but it's themed like a TV weather report segment

My friend's Nord Electro 6 has a preset with a fun name hehe 🎪

FF6 had pacing issues as a single game. I cannot fathom stretching it out even further to multiple titles

Bringing to your attention this fantastic bit of localization from Monster Hunter 4U lol

Myst is an interesting one in that I think its presentation can maybe feel oblique to folks who weren't around when it released. For the time, it was doing something really groundbreaking. A very cool experience that is still special today, but maybe for some requires looking through a past lens.

i think one of the biggest underlinings in just how bad the western industry has been about its own legacy is like. myst isnt just an old game. it was final fantasy vii before final fantasy vii. it was that fucking huge.

getting through 2 to 4 books a week is heavy work! wow

AUTOMATON WEST

The Silent Hill f scenario team at Konami was encouraged to read 100 to 200 books a year, according to producer  https://automaton-media.com/en/news/the-silent-hill-f-scenario-team-at-konami-was-encouraged-to-read-100-to-200-books-a-year-according-to-producer/

This kind of sucks. Falcom has an unfortunate history of not crediting individual composers on their games too, so it can be hard to find out who made what.

RPGFan

Falcom has taken down the fan-run 'Falcom Music Channel' (a YouTube page they'd even link to themselves!).🎹 Despite once lax rules for use, Josep (who ran the page) would also try crediting individual composers who are otherwise more simply credited as 'Falcom Sound Team JDK'.

late to the party, but holy fucking shit the new Ghost in the Shell is PEAK 😩👌🏻

alternate reality version where Eggman is just a normal sitcom everyman, and Sonic is his evil Kramer

Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik

wooow great job sonic. you ran so fast through the level (my house) and smashed my robot (my dishwasher). what a fucking hero.

This scene from DS9 is such peak character interaction! 🥹 I love these slow-burn, slice of life moments that DS9 sometimes shows us. They do such a great job of rounding characters out into 3D people.

I have a cartridge of this game - it's this fantastic transparent teal colour, and the label is printed on transparent plastic. Not only one of the sickest Famicom carts, but one of the sickest game cartridges out there in general imo

The Last Force

I know one cares but me, but the 40th anniversary of the classic game Salamander (Lifeforce) was few weeks ago. There was an event to celebrate this. Original composer Miki Higashino attended. She composed the music to this and the original Gradius when she was like 17! 🥺 I would die if I met her.

this is almost like when Yahoo bought Tumblr and said it was going to be the new PDF

"we're using AI to turn PDFs into podcasts" is gonna be one of those phrases that gets mocked in about 20 years as the absolute height of the 2020s AI bubble of creating useless features dreamt up by Linkedin-climbing MBA lunatics for an audience of no one
