There is a man allegedly running for alder who has AI slop-coded a campaign website scraping the current alder’s content. He literally mentions the alder’s signature achievements as it he was in any way responsible for them, including one that is one of my proudest accomplishments as an organizer.

I don’t really care about soccer but this is good

CBS News

Successfully stopping Gianni Infantino's FIFA plan to sell World Cup profits to private investors was the first half of a high-stakes game in global soccer politics. The second half kicked off Saturday with what seemed a clear aim of ending Infantino's decade-long presidency.

Considering especially how Welch got the speaker job this is really something.

In 2023, several people reported that they were sexually harassed by IL State Rep Harry Benton. In 2023, IL Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch learned of the sexual harassment allegations against Benton. Welch waited until 2026 to remove Benton, after he had sexually harassed another two people.

Some of you really thought that a chronically online science educator YouTuber and serial entrepreneur wouldn’t use AI at all and I’m shocked that this is a controversy at all.

I think Zohran’s election was an awakening for many people to this reality. I sincerely thought in 2022/2023 when we were campaigning for Brandon Johnson that Chicago was at the forefront of this movement. I still don’t get why his administration failed to understand this once elected.

I was dismissive of urbanist politics over the past couple of years but more recently I’ve grown to realize that urbanist policies are the organic demands of the proletariat. My personal attitude of what constitutes “progressive” blinded me from seeing the facts in front of me

I agree with this sentiment and this is how I’ll be spending my energy. I think the most likely outcome is that the left picks up a few seats in council but we wind up with a centrist mayor. Probably Alexi.

imho: Without "us" or with "us," Johnson likely loses. The smart political play by Chicago urbanists would to put their time, resources and energy into supporting good City Council candidates. Let the mayor's race come to them. bsky.app/profile/loca...

If you’re the kind of person who travels to door-knock, you may be underestimating the trust that those of us who knock our own communities are expending when we do it. It’s different for us to put our name on a candidate. Our relationships with our neighbors are valuable and need to be respected.

Any Chicago ‘Leftist’ or ‘Progressive’ dismissing the ‘Safe Streets’ coalition — including Mayor Johnson and his supporters — needs to reckon with the fact that our opponents are astroturfed by the same corrupt right wing chuds opposing you as well. Solidarity is not solidarity if it’s one way.

Streetsblog Chicago

A new @wsj.com piece on Chicago's Archer Avenue Complete Streets project ignores the politics behind the Astroturfed “rebellion” against the safety initiative, and includes a major factual error. chi.streetsblog.org/2026/07/31/j...

Somehow I wound up on Josh Shapiro’s mailing list and I’d like a word with whoever is responsible.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ somehow managed to exceed my expectations.
