100 years ago: My maternal great grandmother was a housing activist and mom in Chicago. My paternal great grandmother owned a cotton farm in the south. So, cultivating the land or the people. Not bad lives. 🙂

I am so proud of this film and this cast and crew. This is truly independent film, almost fully self-funded by the directors, that has had a fantastic festival run! It's won juried prizes and audience awards across the country, and we are so excited that it will soon be available more widely.

I love when a good review reveals new layers for understanding/interpreting a work of art. I love a review that makes me say, "I hadn't thought of that." Similarly, I enjoy adaptation that turns a text on it's head in an organic way. Something that makes me want to revisit the source material.

Bluesky has been pretty joyless lately. Maybe it always was. Like all we got were the humorless wonky types from that other place. Where are the jokes? Where is the joy? Someone point me in the right direction. Joy is resistance too and so necessary for perseverance.
