I didn’t choose, so I can’t say “why” for certain… but it’s clear that the city’s design minimizes car parking removal. There are driveways, but not tons of driveways.

One point I didn't get to: I was going to make a pitch for more Metro transit-oriented development (convert unused/rarely used park-and-ride lots to housing) and for more station activation.

Committee chair says they're trying to do electronic voting in the future. And City Selection Committee meeting adjourned. (Can anyone tell me the name of the Committee chair - the person who ran the meeting - spoke a lot?)

Meeting chair says that not approving Gibbs essentially pushes the Metro rep selection back to the North County/Valley subregion. Meeting now on general public comment.

Wow! Repeat: Full L.A. County City Selection Committee has failed to ratify Santa Clarita Councilmember Jason Gibbs for the Metro board.

Now on City Selection Committee vote on Gibbs - lots of abstains, and quite a few no votes - yeses from Glendale, San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and around a half-dozen others. ** Jason Gibbs ratification vote fails. **

Several cities reps stick up for subregional vote process a few weeks ago - generally these folks speak in favor of Gibbs.

Now on item 7 - appoint retired judge Mary Strobel to Metro Measure R Independent Taxpayers Oversight Committee. Approved unanimously by roll call vote. Next up is the big item you've been waiting for: ratification of Gibbs to Metro Board.

Now on item 6 Los Angeles Consolidated Oversight Board (LACOB) - one nomination - Claremont City Mgr - approved by role call vote.

And plenty of cities abstained - so there weren't enough votes to approve anyone. Pasadena rep asks for recount... chair allows cities to call out changes to their votes. And Lakewood rep wins.

Monrovia rep unanimously approved as City Selection Committee Vice Chair. Next up item 5 Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) - Lakewood Jeff Wood & Lomita Bill UpHoff nominated. Each speaks briefly. Now on to roll call vote.

Now on item 4 - picking a vice chair - Monrovia rep nominated - now roll call vote.

Now discussion of past minutes... Cut/paste typo in minutes document. Torrance rep asks for item 8 Metro item to be taken early - out of order. Chair speaker (SGV person - not sure whom) says all the agenda is important, but skips approving minutes.

Speaker states that committee received 44 emails opposing Gibbs. These email comments are posted online at file.lacounty.gov/SDSInter/bos...

Comments: @streetsforall.org opposes Gibbs. @jacoblwasserman.bsky.social "a vote for Gibbs is a vote for Trump [and for] ICE". That's all for public comment.

First up, public comment - 10 in-person commenters at various locations, all express opposition to ratifying Gibbs for Metro board. Now on remote comment, which is also nearly all opposing Gibbs. Exception is Santa Clarita Councilmember Marsha McLean who says Gibbs supports Metrolink, buses, bikes.
