My first ever job was being a cashier at Staples. Nothing like working back to school night, lines are dozens of people long, and somebody's dad is mad at you because their kid's list had a $95 graphing calculator on it. Sir. I did not teach math. I was a 17 year old making minimum wage.

Yeah and there are different risk calculations for different mental illnesses, symptoms & levels of severity. But it's fairly common for postpartum women to experience intrusive thoughts about hurting their kids, and the vast majority won't follow through and will be okay with outpatient treatment.

Yeah, it feels more "I am a failure at this thing I've chosen to do and cannot live with the shame of that so I see no way out except to commit familicide" that we see more typically in men than the kind of "I must save my children from this world/sin" that you typically see in postpartum psychosis.
Unfortunately I think a lot of this is going to come down to her inpatient clinical notes and whether she was displaying signs of psychosis or mania during that time.
