NEW BLOG - "Belmarsh to Broadmoor" Axel Rudabukana has been transferred under the Mental Health Act from prison to hospital. Plenty of comment already bouncing about this, but what does it all mean? mentalhealthcop.com/2026/07/24/b...
In which Court Reporting is never quite as simple as Court Reporting…well done! Olympian efforts required to leap the hurdles of Central Family Court administration… Chaotic for the observer, surely a bewildering experience for families.
The Transparency ProjectA much delayed legal blogpost – an explanation In October 2024 I visited the Central Family Court in London. My objective was to observe a hearing before the magistrates. At the time, the Reporting Pilot was in operation and there had been almost no... https://transparencyproject.org.uk/?p=31108

A fascinating lunch with an amazingly knowledgeable and admirable person, nonagenarian oceanographer Sylvia Earle as.ft.com/r/04bfa49c-0...
A Judge who wants ‘either/or’ recommendations & suspects ‘…it reflects the dating of the earlier allegations & the continuing relationship & facilitation of contact thereafter’ in their assumption about why FFH didn’t happen. There is still so much work to do #domesticabuse @safelives.bsky.social

CC v NMCM [2026] EWFC 196 (B): Fact-finding in private law proceedings, concerning allegations against father, who was assisted by a Qualified Legal Representative. QLR discharged, after finding that he had failed to properly cross-examine the mother. www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWF...
Making sure you're not a bot!www.bailii.orgThis is appalling. Also (perhaps a stupid question), I’ve seen the Judge do the questioning in order to progress matters - of course wouldn’t have been in the absence of a QLR in this scenario - curious as to whether you might expect to see reasons given for why the Judge discounted themselves here?

Helpful diagram from Social Work England's recent external review shows the confusing maze of social work standards and frameworks. A principal social worker even said they felt 'embarrassed' introducing it to students/NQSWs. For years the answer has always just been to add more.
