I get that the gun industry is interested in feeding its bottom line, that much is clear. But we should all be interested in prevention that saves lives instead of waiting for the next mass shooting to happen.

Assault weapons are the weapon of choice for most mass shooters because they are designed to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Weapons of war have no place in our communities.

This nation is not “free” if we’ve accepted mass shootings as inevitable and our only line of defense is to hope for the best in every circumstance. “Everyone should be armed” is a clear admission of failure when we know that every shooting is preventable. Every single one.

Extremists won’t distract us from the fact that more than 100 Americans die every single day from preventable gun violence, and every one of those victims has a name, a family, and a right to still be here.

The most powerful nation in the world is fully capable of addressing BOTH environmental risks & the gun violence epidemic. We can, in fact, regulate firearms, (and I hear that Dems regulate the weather) and making this comparison when our kids are being gunned down is deeply dishonest & abhorrent.

But this is the classic tactic of extremists: textbook distraction tactics and false “facts” to keep Americans from focusing on the deaths that are happening in front of their very eyes.

Gun violence is a CHOICE being made by leaders in this country.

Our children’s futures are being stolen by extremists like Elon Musk and others in this administration who want to sell more guns for more profit that goes to their political donor pals in the gun industry.

The Trump administration's “guns everywhere" approach is putting all of us at greater risk of being shot and killed, from the endless rollback of gun safety policies to the mobilization of untrained, highly armed agents in our streets.
