FYI there is no "real" reason why Rome "fell." Its power waned for the usual, mundane reasons: widening gap between rich and poor, inability to maintain infrastructure, incompetent leadership, pointless wars, endless persecution of marginalized groups who performed vital labor, etc.
As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.
it's 2016: north carolina introduces a bill to ban trans people from using bathrooms safely. there's a national outcry; companies withdraw business up to and including the NCAA cancelling a publicized game. the bill fails. it's 2026: kansas passes a law nullifying trans people's licenses. crickets.
one thing i think is true is that republicans assumed that democrats would not respond in kind and that the forceful pushback spooked them (a lesson to learn here, perhaps)
Greg SargentTrump's corrupt scheme to rig 2026 is suddenly falling apart: *Court strikes down Texas GOP gerrymander *Indiana GOP lacks votes to redraw map *Big Dem win in Virginia could give Ds more seats On the pod, DLCC head Heather Williams is informative on what's next: newrepublic.com/article/2033...
Police around Australia clearly need training overhauls so they stop siding with abusers against survivors. When they attend a 'domestic violence' incident they are dealing with somebody who has been attacked, injured & terrified. They MUST stop seeing this as hysterical accuser, provoked bloke.

I tried to do what my good friend LP is doing and finish my bachelors degree as a working professional. I failed, but if I’d had this community back then, it would have meant everything to have this happen. It would mean everything now to see my friend get to do this. Let’s share far and wide, ok?
Ignyte Award-Nominated Writer/Editor LP Kindredto stick with it! Anything you could share is welcome! Any sharing with your network also helps! And I'm already grateful! Thank you so much! gofund.me/ce21d48c2
